As parents we don’t often think about the stress and pressure our children go through in their day to day life. What do they have to be stressed about right? They don’t have to work, or cook after a long day of work, or pay bills and parent. We tend to think they have it so easy, and often times I have caught myself saying I wish I was still a kid. Do you truly remember being a kid? Do you really remember what it was like? Our children live in a fast paced world of busy adults(parents), school pressures, incessant lessons, video games, malls, and competitive sports. We usually don't think of these influences as stressful for our kids, but often they are. Like.....don’t you remember your good ol childhood school days? Everything felt like a competition and popularity contest. Either you were cool or you were not. The bustling pace of our children's lives can have a profound effect on their innate joy—and usually not for the better.
Do you ever wake up and think about dinner?! No seriously, forget about what you’re eating for breakfast, skip past lunch, and just think “wow! what am I making the kids for dinner?” Yep, i said the kids, the children, the bambinos...etc.
After a long day of work, hearing the children debating over what’s for dinner is the last thing you probably want to do. Well, at least it is for me. Now when I said forget about breakfast I didn’t really mean forget about breakfast-that’s the most important meal of the day! We will talk about quick breakfast ideas soon! Back to this dinner debate, or the lack of one, once I tell you about this little system I have going on in my household. Considering I have to cook for 7, sometimes 12 people, you can maybe understand why cooking can be a bit stressful! No worries, I developed a system that involves my childrenand leaves them anxious for dinner! It works for my house, maybe it will work for yours... |
