About a couple of months ago, there was a viral video going around of young Serena Williams hitting tennis balls with her Dad as he was speaking positive affirmations over her life. He was telling her to practice as if she was in the US Open. As many of you know, Serena has been to the US Open multiple times and is in the prime of her career. As parents, we need to practice the same thing with our children especially our little brown boys who are facing adversity everyday they step out the door. As the New Year is upon us, this is the perfect time to start a new family tradition with your children each year...

Date Night for Married couples means so much more. It is not only time for them to get together and “adult” without any kids around but also a time for them to connect mentally. Often times, Date Night is seen as a way to “hook up” for sex or do something risqué but that is simply not true. As I dressed for our night out I started to get nervous as if it were our first date again. My booty was sitting right in my high waisted mom jeans and the faux fur vest was a nice Cookie Lion added touch. I stood in the mirror applying my lip liner as my face dried from my Morphe Setting Spray and was so ready to just get away.. even if only for the night....
So first you have to ask yourself the hard question... are you really taking time for yourself? Really think about it and if your answer is no, then mama this blog post is for you!
